Blacksmithing; Art and Design
This blog is intended to address the problem off buying a piece of craft work and metal work in particular The problem are often three fold, where can I get it ,what can I have made and how much am I expected to pay for it ? As blacksmiths and craft workers in general are not known as advertisers so a little bit of research may be needed .The obvious thing is the net and somethings ‘word of mouth’ will lead you to your sources . The best advise I can give at this stage is to visit the workplace and experience the craft person at work plying his or her trade. In many cases the craft person have a studio with produces on show and for sale this makes things more simple. If you are looking for an article which is unique than you are commissioning a piece of art or craft. this becomes a contract between you and the artist/craft person. This contract is in itself a unique and personal experience ,both the client and the craft parson are making a statement and roughly says . This piece is part of who I am . wwwbrendansforge.com
